What an AMAZING man

Sadly, on Sunday, our Prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley passed away at the age of 97. Since I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1997, President Hinckley has been such an inspiration. He was always so sweet and thoughtful and had the best sense of humor (so funny, but never taking away from the spirit). He will be dearly missed, but I know and feel such happiness for I know Sister Hinckley was waiting for him. What a glorious reunion!

Driving School... Check!

Wooo-whooo! I finally finished driving school for a ticket I got a few months ago. It was the most daunting task I have done in a long time. It is like taking a class in school that you have absolute no interest in, but have to take in order to graduate! YUCK! So glad I am finito!

Tag I'm It! 7 Random things about me...

Tagged by my new Fav Friend Veronica

1. I clean when i'm mad. Of course I try to clean other times too, but when I am mad the first thing I do is start cleaning the kitchen.

2. I bust a move on a daily basis. Usually in the living room. I can still remember the dance to Flower Corps. in the Nutcracker from 1995!

3. I hate my feet! I use to wear socks in the swimming pool when I was younger.

4. I sucked my thumb until I was 10.

5. I love to organize things.

6. I still haven't sent out my Christmas cards, but will send them out this week. I guess they are Happy New Year cards :)

7. I've written a children's book and want to get it published someday.

Year in Review

So, I thought a good way to start off the new year is by giving myself a pat on the back for things I accomplished in 2007...

1. I wanted to read 4 books and I read 5 1/2! GO Me!!
2. I wanted to finish my Credential Classes! Check!
3. I wanted to learn how to sew. I got a sewing machine for my b-day (Thanks Mom and Dad!) and I am in the process of learning! Getting Closer!
4. I wanted to go to CKU! Had a BLAST... Thanks Misty, Lori, and Brooke. Hey Brooke, Where is your razor?
5. Family Vacation... Got to go to Disneyland with the kiddos, my parents, and brother, but Dougie had to work. :(

There were some more personal and family goals that I we had that we did pretty good on, still working on some things...always trying to improve.

All in all it was a year of small goals accomplished. This year I put 10 things I want to accomplish. I also have some more personal goals that are pretty huge, but I know our family can do it. I will share them WHEN we accomplish them!

If there was one thing I learned in 2007 it was to treasure the time you have with the ones you love the most. One of the people that I treasure the most lost one of the people she treasured the most, her daddy. My heart ached for her in ways I didn't know possible and still today I wish I could take her pain away. I can only imagine and really can't bear to imagine losing a parent. I know that one day I will have to live with that pain. To my treasured friend: Words cannot express how much you mean to me and how much it hurts me to know that you are hurting. I feel bad that I don't ask you more often how things are going or how you are coping. It is definitely not because I don't care, I'm just afraid that I will bring it up on a day that you doing pretty good. I hope and pray you know that I am always here for you. I feel like we are not as close as we were during the hard times at the beginning of 2007, but not because I don't want to be... I think life has just gotten in the way a little bit. I want you to know that you are such an awesome example of strength. You have taught me not to take the time with my Daddy and Mom for granted. You are amongst my most loved treasures... thank you and I love you sooooo much!

Stash Diet

O.k. so I am going on a diet and it is the Stash Diet. What is this? It means that I have to use my scrapbooking stash until a set number of layouts are completed before I can buy any new scrapbooking stuff. Way cool! My DT friend Veronica gave me the idea off her blog. I am joining Veronica along with Jen (also on the DT) to get pages done while using stuff I already have. Since I am going to Scrapbook Expo in March that doesn't give me very long. I have to complete 30 layouts before I can buy anything new (except adhesive, which I think I will be needing some). We have our first Design Team Crop next Saturday so hopefully I will be able to get lots done. I don't think I could go to Expo and not buy anything scrapbooking :) Thanks Veronica! In 2008 it is all about...

BECAUSE NICE MATTERS!

That is my theme for the year! I am challenging myself along with my family to make NICE matter. I have lots of goals this year, but above all I hope to make a difference this year in the lives of those around me. I am going to try really hard to post different acts of kindness on my Heartfelt Blessings Blog (you can check it out by clicking on "Heartfelt Blessings" to the right :) I am starting a scrapbooking club that is about giving and will touch the lives of people in our community who are in need of hope! May your 2008 be a year of good health, happy memories, and heartfelt blessings. (pic by M.C. Martin)
